Drumbeats of War - Sanctions… not Crippling, not Biting, just… strong

The tale has been told on the next round of sanctions against Iran for pursuing nuclear parity with the West.

Aren’t any.

Oh, there are some picayune differences from the last round of sanctions, the major one being that nations are advised to be watchful, and if they catch a ship bound for Iran with contraband in their own national waters, they might think about boarding it. But what, a ship bound from North Korea to Iran is going to visit France first?

The central bank of Iran is not being sanctioned. The heavy missile system that is promised Iran from Russia, the formidable S-300 is not on the list of excluded arms. In fact, when the Obama administration, in a rare display of cajones, told Russia sending Iran the missiles would have ’serious implications’ for US-Russian relations, the Russians, far more capable of showing their pique, flipped us off with ‘we do not need advice from across the ocean’.

The sanctions, as weak … oh, sorry, as strong… as they are, still have not been agreed upon formally. This is just the strongest draft the US could come up with in face of Brazil and Turkey wreaking havoc by brokering a faux deal on Iranian lightly enriched uranium.

Hillary Clinton, not my favorite person, frankly, went up a bit in my estimation as she funked around the White House mumbling under her breath how pathetic these sanctions are.

So.

No sanctions to speak of.

Iran is free to travel the nuclear route.

Israel is very, very silent.
