Drumbeats of War - The Door Shuts, The Window Opens

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Tonight, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu left Washington without bowing to the dictates of Barak Obama.

That is the news of this moment. No announcements were issued at the end of two days of intense and sometimes stormy confrontations behind closed doors.

No photographers. No agreement.

According to front running sources in Israel, the next step is an open break between the Obama administration and the government of Israel.

For the first time in history, (more…)

Drumbeats of War - Bunker Busters to Diego Garcia

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

The fog of war is preceding the actual event like a herald before a great general.

The US is apparently sending a large shipment of bunker busters to our primary staging base in the Indian Ocean, Diego Garcia.

This news was reported by Military Industry Today, a news service for Military Industry Professionals, on March 17, citing ‘media sources.’ Since then they have run more news regarding the shipment. International sources from England to India have added details, and the story is now widespread in the world press. But not in America.

The original story (more…)

No War in the Middle East This Year

Friday, March 19th, 2010

What if there is no Middle East war this year? That would be nice, but I wouldn’t bet my life on it.

Still, what if you get some emergency food, and water, and first aid supplies, expecting a big event started by, oh, I don’t know… perhaps Israel bombing Iran. And then it doesn’t happen.

Would you have been foolish for getting some emergency supplies to have on hand?

Resoundingly, emphatically, definitively… no.

NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, announced Tuesday (more…)

Drumbeats of War - An Echo from Russia

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

In an eerie echo of the Israeli announcement of the continuation of settlement in Jerusalem during US VP Biden’s visit to Israel, Russian Prime Minister Putin announced that the Bushir nuclear facility in Iran would be up and running this summer, shortly after Sec. of State Hilary Clinton arrived for a two-day visit.

Later, at a press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, Clinton brought up the subject and told the Russians “In the absence of those reassurances, we think it would be premature to go forward with any project at this time, because we want to send an unequivocal message to the Iranians,” she said.

Lavrov dismissed the US position with some heat, confirming that, “The project will be completed. We are now in the final stage, and this nuclear power plant will be launched. It will be put into operation, it will be functioning, producing power.” despite any US concerns.

To date, Israel has bombed every actual or suspected nuclear facility in the Middle East before completion. That is a matter of record.

What is your conclusion?

The deputy leader of Lebanon’s Hisballah came to this conclusion. Sheikh Naim Qassem told Reuters today that, “Israel or the United States cannot just bomb Iran and (expect) things to continue normally. Any attack on Iran could ignite the whole region and the assailant will pay a heavy price whether it is Israel or the United States.” He also sent a warning across the Middle East that anyone who allows their territory to be used in strike on Iran would face “reprisals”.

Drumbeats of War - A Time of Desperation

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Things are happening I can hardly believe. That’s why I’ve been checking sources before writing this.

The Obama administration is apparently thinking of giving Palestinians the military shield of US protection under the aegis of our CENTCOM chief, General David Petraeus. (more…)

Drumbeats of War - The Dog That Didn’t Bark

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

In the Sherlock Holmes adventure titled Silver Blade, Holmes remarked that a very curious thing had happened the night that Silver Blade, the racehorse, was stolen. Watson said he had noticed nothing unusual. Not even the dog barked. And Holmes said, ah, that is what was unusual. The dog did not bark.

Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu has not bowed to US President Obama’s ultimatums, delivered in barked commands by Mrs. Clinton over the phone to Netanyahu on Friday. The central demand was to stop building 1,600 homes in Jerusalem’s Jewish neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo. Or else. End of conversation.

So far, the answer is not ‘no. Neither is it ‘yes’.

The closest thing to an answer so far is (more…)

Emergency Preparedness Checklist

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

One of the primary sources for emergency food in the United States is Nitro-Pak

There are good reasons.

1. ‘Iron-Clad’ 120-day Guarantee

2. Free Shipping in the continental United States over $100, most items.

3. Over 50,000 products

5. Guaranteed lowest price. If you find a lower price on an in-stock item, they will match it.

6. In business over 25 years.

7. Most orders ship in 24 -72 hours, although the time can get much longer when there is a perceived crisis, and then they also run out of the most popular items.

They have MRE’s, Emergency Food Units, Freeze-Dried Food.
They have Earthquake Survival Kits, Camping Survival Supplies, and Survival Food.
They even have esoteric emergency supplies like Space Food, Potassium Iodide and Nite-Vision Equipment.

Is this beginning to sound like a commercial?

Yes. It is a commercial. I would like you to go there and see if you find yourself saying… oh… I do not want to wait until it’s too late. I want some things on hand NOW. And start being actually prepared.

Have I gone through this checklist and made sure I have nearly all of what they suggest?
Yes. And I have a lot more of some categories, like first aid supplies.

Humor me. Go to Nitro-Pak. and click on 72 Hr. Survival Kits. Then when the next window comes up, click on 72 Hr Survival Kits. At the top of the page that comes up, you will see **72 Hour Emergency Info & Checklist. Click on that.

You will be shown an extremely well-thought-out emergency checklist.

The first part is a list of reasons why you should actually do something to be prepared. It is interesting.
The second part is the checklist with links to many of the supplies themselves. It is vital.

You can print out this checklist.

It is free.

Please take a little time and consider the checklist. As I’ve said, and as they say… because it is so true… when an emergency strikes it will be too late.

Drumbeats of War - The Mirrors Shatter - News Flash Addendum

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Three posts within 24 hours. A first, for me.

But things are happening quickly, and it’s getting serious.

Yet US mainstream news headlines try to focus our attention on Obama’s overhaul of ‘No Child Left Behind’.

Here’s the real news… somewhat tenuous and sometimes unsubstantiated. But as the fog of war extends toward the present, that is to be expected. (more…)
