Drumbeats of War - “the grand victory is imminent”
Sayyed Nasrallah went to dinner on Thursday.
Seems harmless enough. But this is the strongman of Lebanon, unopposed leader of Hisbollah, who has been in hiding since 2006, in fear of his life from assassination after the war with Israel that was somewhat of a victory for Hizballah and a definitive defeat for the reputation of the Israeli military.
He doesn’t go out to dinner.
Even more significant, he had dinner with President Ahmadinejad of Iran, and President Assad of Syria. In Damascus. Recently several high Arab officials were assassinated in Damascus.
This meeting was reminiscent of the Big Three meetings of US President Roosevelt, England’s Prime Minister Churchill and Russian dictator Stalin during World War II. They had to be very secure and very secret lest the Axis assassinate them.
The next day, Ahmadinejad told a meeting of terror chiefs that “the grand victory is imminent”.
The victory he supposes is against ‘the Zionists and the imperialists’. By that he means the government of Israel, and ‘the governments of the US, England, etc. It is noteworthy that he never promises ‘annihilation’ of Jewish people. The Iranian government treats Jewish people well in Iran, in some ways better than the rest of their population, perhaps for the PR effect. But he hates with a passion those he calls ‘this criminal regime’ in Israel. .
But I digress. What I want to spotlight is that a great war has never been closer in the Middle East.
In conflicts since WW II, even the largest wars in the Middle East have had primarily regional effects. The one coming up will involve the entire world. At a minimum, it will throw what little is left of our economic balance into complete and utter chaos. It has the potential of being the flashpoint for WW III.
I post these political/economic posts because there is so much news that does not see the broad light of day in the media, including internet media. You have to know what to look for before you can find it, and that is a very subtle way of causing people not to know about it.
So once again I say to you, with humility but with increasing urgency, that you think of preparing for what is to come. It may be weeks, or months… or days away. But unless one or both sides stand down from their current state of readiness, it will happen.
Myself, I go for water, food, and first aid supplies, in that order. Go to the grocery store, or look at the links in the Food section of this website. Get a couple of cases of bottled water. Anything is better than nothing.
