Are You Waiting Too Long?

I recently had almost $30,000.00 of credit stripped from my accounts. It was a shocking surprise. One credit company went under and simply was not able to extend any more credit. Another capriciously decided to lower limits. One was on a Bank of America credit card I have used for over 40… that’s forty… years. All during that time of over four decades, I paid on time every single time. I would have thought I was a pretty good bet to continue doing so. They did not.

I can tell you it was not pleasant. I had counted on that credit to cushion our family during this economic down time.

But I had not counted on it too much.

It was nice, very nice, and comforting, to visit our pantries, stocked with emergency supplies. Frankly, it would be very difficult if I had to start putting together the food and medical stores now. It would be quite a strain.

I’m planning on keeping stocks at maximum levels as long as possible. I believe we haven’t even started into the depths of economic dislocation that is very likely just around the corner. People who have lost their jobs are still receiving unemployment, or at least most of them are. But those benefits will not last forever. What will happen to the economy then?

And I’m not the only one with sparklingly good credit who has suddenly had it taken away. I’ve read of businesses that had to close within a few days because their normal line of credit suddenly vanished. I can only imagine the number of families who have had the same thing happen.

Disaster can come in many ways. An economy that is built on printing almost limitless amounts of worthless paper money is one way.

If you do not feel the hot breath of it breathing down your neck yet, just look at the suddenly rising gasoline prices.

I believe we may be in the last calm before the storm.

It may be a good time to get in some supplies before a disaster, man made or otherwise, touches you, personally.

All the best to you.
